Kathryn grew up on the naturally treeless black soil Pirrinuan Plain, Queensland, Australia. She also spent nearly two decades further west, in a small rural community called Goondiwindi. Her environmentally activist paintings are motivated by a deep love for and an understanding of the environment. Her paintings reference local and global issues associated with mining, coal seam gas extraction, water and soil quality.
